How to use the Thermostat

There are different kinds of thermostat per accommodation with each one having different designs and functions.

Below is one of many examples, to use it is very simple:

How to Use It

  1. Increase temperature

    • Use the right silver button (+ side).

    • Press to raise the set temperature above the current room temperature (e.g., if the room is 20°C, set it to 22°C).

    • The heating will then switch on, sending hot water to the radiator.

  2. Decrease temperature

    • Use the left silver button (- side).

    • Press to lower the set temperature.

    • If you set it below the current room temperature (e.g., set to 18°C while the room is already 20°C), the system will stop heating.

Important note:

  • When the set room temperature has been reached, the radiator will switch off. It will only turn back on once it detects that the temperature is lower than the set temperature (e.g., if the set temperature is 20°C, the radiator will remain on until it reaches the desired temperature. Once it's been reached, it will automatically shut off the radiators. This also applies in reverse wherein if the set temperature is 20°C and it detects that the current room temperature is lower, it will activate the radiator).

  • To avoid high utility costs, please ensure that the thermostat should ideally be set between 18–21°C. You will receive periodic reminders of this time to time.

  • In accordance to the Minor Repairs (Tenant's Liability) Decree, the tenant is responsible for the following:

    • Bleeding and refilling the water in the heating system

    • Restarting the central heating after a failure

Should you have any questions or concerns which aren't covered here, feel free to send an email to facility@beterbeheer.com

When to report an issue:

  1. There's no heating at all for a long period of time

  2. There's a leak in the pipes, radiator, or central heating.

  3. There's an error in the central heating

In any case, please file a ticket through the tenant portal and provide pictures. Ideally, please provide pictures of the central heating and the radiator for every report regarding heating issues in order for us to resolve the matter with efficiency.
