As a tenant, you are required to have liability insurance.
Assistance with Obtaining Insurance:
If you need help securing liability insurance, we offer assistance to ensure you find the right coverage. You can request us to arrange your insurance here.
Please note, there is a service fee of €50, excl. VAT is applicable. In this case, we will advance the payment for the liability insurance on your behalf, for a 12-month period. The cost typically ranges from €50-€60 for one year, and it will be invoiced to you on your upcoming rent invoice. The insurance will be terminated by us directly after twelve months. After twelve months, you must apply for insurance yourself, as we cannot continue to cover it or invoice you once you stop renting with us.
You will receive a prepaid mobile SIM card to secure the insurance policy. We can help you set up a mobile phone subscription with about 15-20 GB of data for €10-€15 per month, based on current market deals. Please note, we do not make a profit on these subscriptions; we only charge a service fee of €50 excl. Value Added Tax (VAT) will apply to each service we provide for your assistance.
Reason for Requirement:
Liability insurance protects you in case you accidentally cause damage to the rental property. Incidents may involve water damage from plumbing problems or damage to fixtures and fittings in the property. Having liability insurance ensures that you are covered for the costs of these damages, which can otherwise be substantial.
Why It Must Be Dutch:
According to our general terms and conditions, your liability insurance must be with a Dutch company. This requirement facilitates easier claims recovery processes and simplifies legal proceedings, should they become necessary. Dutch insurance policies are tailored to meet local laws and offer coverage that fits the needs and legal requirements in the Netherlands.
