Whether you receive a rent invoice depends on the service package your landlord has chosen with Beter Beheer. In some cases a monthly rent invoice is generated and provided to the tenant. In other cases, invoicing may fall outside Beter Beheer's services and is handled directly by the landlord or another party. This is, most times, outlined in the tenancy agreement.
If you're unsure about receiving an invoice or need to request one, please contact your landlord or Beter Beheer for information.
Important: Payment Obligation Always Exists
According to Dutch law, paying rent is a "brengschuld" (a debt that must be proactively paid) as laid down in paragraph 6:114 BW Dutch Civil Code. As a tenant, you must ensure your rent is paid on time, even if you haven't received an invoice. Not receiving an invoice is not a valid reason to delay payment.
Tenants should pay rent on time as stated in their rental agreement and use the correct account number given by the landlord or Beter Beheer.
Please note that failing to pay rent on time may result in reminders, debt collection procedures, or additional costs. Timely payment prevents these inconveniences.
